Please do not support these companies by buying their products. Testing on animals for beauty and vanity is inhumane and unnecessary. Many companies out there do NOT test on animals so why can't ALL companies do the same.
Jeyes Beiersdorf Johnson & Johnson The Body Shop/L’Oreal Lancome Chanel Lever Fabergé Christion Dior L’Oreal/Nestlé Clinique Miners Cosmetics Colgate Palmolive PZ Cussons Coty Reckitt Benckiser Ecover* Revlon Estée Lauder SC Johnson FCUK Virgin Vie Garnier Yardley Givenchy Yves Rocher GlaxoSmithKline Yves Saint Laurent Helena Rubenstein Unilever Procter & Gamble
I recently went through my bathroom cupboard and I was horrified to find that most of the things I have in their are made from companies on this list. I have vowed NOT to buy them any more. My beloved Marmite is made by unilever so Heka - it looks like I'll be making the switch to Vegemite after all - it's made by Kraft isn't it? Hmmm...I'll have to research that. I have found a similar product made by Meridian that is approved by The Vegan Society so if Vegemite is out of the question I will try that.

Vegemite is kraft yeah... YAY THATS ONE TO HEKA, ZERO TO HEDGE!!!!
the body shop is in on this??? damn their body butter is to die for.
do you know about maybeline or ausralis?? i use their mascara and eyeliner respectively.
never buy l'oreal, to expensive, same with fcuk, clinique, revlon, chanel, garnier.....
johnson and johnson??? oh well...
with face washes and stuff, you can make your own (shampoos, body lotions etc). my mum has this old book that tells you how to make all this stuff by yourself. though it does call for spermacetti (or something), but theres always substitutes

Yes I know - I LOVE The Body Shop Mango Body Butter!! I used to use maybelline mascara but then I found out Maybelline are a subsidiary of L'oreal so now I use LUSH. Do you not have LUSH down under? I used to buy Herbal Essence (do you get that shampoo and conditioner??) BUT they are owned by Procter and Gamble so I won't buy it again. Procter & Gamble's poducts include Ariel, Daz, Fairy, Max Factor, Olay, Pantene Pro-V and Head and Shoulders. In fact click here for a full list of their stuff. I was gob smacked when I realised I was buying some of these products It really isn't easy to live cruelty free and there is some care needed when buying products.

Damn i cant use my mascara. and it's the best stuff too.
hmmm might have LUSH. will check. What about avon??
we do get herbal essences but i use sun silk. I straighten my hair everyday and their moisture shampoo and conditioner is the only thing stopping my hair from dying in the bore water and straightener.

I still use my things that are on this list Heka - it would be too wasteful not to. The important thing is that we know about it NOW and we don't buy these things in future. Incidentally I'm telling all my friends and family not to buy me smellies and make-up UNLESS it's vegan. I always get way too much of this shit as it is. Oooh...not wanting to sound ungrateful (it did sound ungrateful didn't it!)
Not sure about Lynx (bf uses Lynx too) or Kotex - I will find out.
Whilst some of these products are good - there are better ones out there - it's just finding them that's all.

Lynx does ( look for the big U SAYING UNILIVER UNDER IT ON THE BACK) does anyone know about tescos own toiletries? GAH!!! Unilever own SO much...I will get a list of their products and post them here. I wouldn't have thought that Tesco own brand are safe - simply because they are not on the list. Personally I wouldn't shop in Tesco because they allowed the live selling of turtles and tortoises in their Chinese branches AND because they take the piss out of farmers by paying them pittence for their produce and then putting a ridiculous profit on them. AND because of all the green belt land they have bribed off local governments AND destroyed ancient wood land. But that's just me and I don't expect anyone to agree with my values.

oh and what about Kotex??? Kotex are owned by Kimberly Clark who DO test on animals. As well as that, if that wasn't enough, most of the pulp Kimberly-Clark uses for its disposable tissue products comes from unsustainable sources. This includes wood fiber from ancient forests like the Canadian Boreal. Most of the consumer products Kimberly-Clark sells in stores, including Kleenex products, contain no recycled fiber at all. Here's a link for you click here..

Hi ya'll. No ones been doing much here.
Quick update, I'm at uni now, found a few better options for shampoo etc, found a great one at the chemist called 'organic instince' or 'natures instint' if its not all organic, and they dont test on animals. I just came here to check on Colgate Palmolive, and suprise suprise its on the list, but i can get body wash in the above brand. but im stuck on toothpaste. I might be able to get laundry powder in that organic brand too. must check. but its alot more expensive, but definately worth it. Im going to have to search in organic vegan shops for toothpaste though i think.
Now i wanted to ask about Schick (razor brand). I can't find who actually owns them so i can check them out. any help is great.
hope your all good

I've not heard of that brand Heka, I will do some investigating for you. In the UK there is a vegan brand of toothpaste made by Kingfisher which is very good.

Schick used to be owned by Pfizer (who tests on animals) but now they're owned by Energizer Holdings. An email to them would be the best bet. Just emailed them so I'll let you know as soon as they reply.
