I really should point out that we all need to be aware just how much protein we consume - there is a safe amount. The general trend for new vegetarians is to go overboard with their intake of protein which can be as equally damaging as not enough. Too much protein may increase the risk of kidney stones and possibly other ailments. I made myself terribly ill by doing just this and I'm on somewhat of a mission to inform vegetarians to be aware of their protein intake. Like everything really - there is a safe limit. Everyone should calculate how much protein they need every day whether they are vegetarian or not, and the best way to do that is to take your weight in pounds and divide it by 2.3 kg to determine your weight in kilograms. Then take 1 gram of protein for every kg of body weight. Easy peasy. Scroll down to the bottom herefor a rough guide.

That's a good point. I always have a glass of milk or two in the morning with breaky and my weetbix and usually try to have a cheese sandwich or an egg with tea or breaky to get my protien. It's pretty simple to do.
What are some symptoms of to much protein? Some people might be showing them and just not know it.
I did the IQ test on the cow website (i forget what its called), I didnt know seasame seeds had more calcium per calorie than milk. but anyway...

Happy Cow?
Are you a member there too? I LOVE that site...I run the group there called Heathen Vegan and I contribute to the blog there as well (I know, I get EVERYWHERE!)
I ended up having continuous cold sores from OD'ing on protein. I just couldn't get rid of them and they were very very painful. At one point my whole mouth and chin was covered and they spread at an alarming rate...literally hours.
There are other ailments caused by too much protein as well - kidney stones and IBS that I know of.
